Warrior Burn X Helmet Review – Player Review

It’s been a few years since I last used the Warrior Burn helmet. However, after buying the Warrior Burn X helmet, I picked it from my collection to compare the two. So, let’s see if Warrior Burn X meets my expectations.

I opted for a white shell, black mask, and black chin, and the oversized decals with gray accents gave it an aggressive, sleek feel. It’s clear that Warrior put a lot of thought into the design with cuts and depressions, and I loved how it turned out in person.

Protection and Safety

The Warrior Burn X helmet brings solid protection, but the practical on-field performance matters the most. Its OMNISHOCK Protection System with IMPAX pods is my favorite.

Firstly, I thought that the Warrior had over-advertised it. However, it provided a clear safety advantage in lacrosse. The shock absorption system was fantastic at protecting my head. So, I was less concerned about the brutal games.

Besides, the IMPAX foam added extra safety and nicely managed rotational and direct impact. The outer shell is strong enough to cushion the blows and lessen the impact.

Moreover, the JAWS integrated chin piece adds reliable jaw protection but it’s slightly bulky. I felt confident during high-contact plays, knowing it covered vulnerable spots like the cheek and jawbone.

Although I found it a bit restricting when moving at high speeds or turning quickly, I got used to it after a few days. Overall, it wraps around the entire head, offering 360° security without feeling overly tight.

Comfort and Fit

I ordered a medium-sized Warrior Burn X helmet, which fits me perfectly. I noticed that the BOA system wraps around the entire head, not just the back. Hence, the helmet feels completely adjusted with just a quick dial turn.

The custom fit inserts combined with the AdaptFit 270 by BOA system keep the helmet in place, even after taking some hard checks.

The Warrior Burn X helmet’s center of gravity is well-balanced. As a result, The top shell didn’t feel so heavy and stayed securely in place without noticeable shifting or wobbling. Hence, I found the fit better than the universal size of Cascade XRS Pro.

Yet, the Custom Fit Inserts could use more refinement. They work well but feel slightly thicker than I’d like. Thus, if you like thin padding around the jawline, I suggest Cascade XRS.

Furthermore, the chinstrap feels soft and flexible, a huge improvement from past models. The chin cover didn’t feel bulky, and the straps didn’t dig into my face. So, it’s pretty comfortable.

Ventilation and Breathability

When I say that the Warrior Burn X helmet offers satisfactory ventilation, it’s not just a bluff. Last week, I visited Colorado with my lacrosse buddies, and they all had similar Warrior Burn X helmet reviews.

Its high-quality Jet Stream system offers superior ventilation in hot weather. The inner lining absorbs the sweat and keeps your head dry.

The open design on the top and sides also provides good airflow without sacrificing protection. Although Cascade XRS pro has set a high standard in this area with its XFlow ventilation system, the Burn X competes well.

So, if you play in warmer regions like Austin or Colorado, Warrior Burn X is a good choice.

Materials and Construction

My Warrior burn helmet’s BOA system’s knob broke after a check. Although Warrior’s customer service quickly sent me a replacement, it was disappointing. Therefore, I was expecting better quality with the Warrior Burn X helmet

Well, this time I am happy that the helmet feels sturdy. After using the Warrior Burn X helmet for a month, I’m impressed with its durability. Despite withstanding aggressive checks and impacts, the shell shows only minor scratches, with no significant wear and tear.

Although one month is a relatively short period to assess longevity, my initial experience suggests, that it is worth the money.

Moreover, the helmet has a 1-year warranty, so you’re covered if it is damaged early.

Vision Depth

Vision depth is important to dodge defenders during fast-paced games. Usually, helmet rails obstruct the peripheral vision and affect the speed of your game. Thus, I loved the VIXION technology offered by Maverick.

Although the warrior Burn X didn’t disappoint me, I had a minor issue. The bars in the face mask design cut back in at a weird angle and obstruct my peripheral vision.

It wasn’t a huge deal, but I noticed it during the game. So, if you value unobstructed visions, try Cascade’s VIXION technology.

Customization Options

I love the customization options available with the Warrior Burn X helmet. You can choose the shell color, chin piece, and even the chin strap. So, it’s easy to customize colors and create a matching look with your team.

Besides, different sizes, adjustable straps, and adjustable fit make it the best unisex custom helmet.

Comparison

Compared to Maverik’s Cascade XRS pro, Warrior Burn X provides a good value for money. Although it lacks peripheral vision technology, the quality fit and design are outstanding.

Warrior has also improved the durability of its outer shell from Warrior Burn and Warrior Burn Jr. The new ventilation system has improved the breathability that the Warrior Burn lacked.

Moreover, the Warrior Burn X helmet has better sizing options and more color customization than the Cascade series. Overall, it’s one of the best lacrosse helmets for adults, offering the combination of a protective fit and a cool design.
